[After we are born, do we forget everything...? ]
Baby's movements, movements that come from unconsciousness are the key to know what we experienced before we were born and how we survive in a tough situation. Imagination connects beyond languages, time and space, then tells us something we forgot but important.

ABOUT
PROJECT
This project is based on the ideas of "soul" in both Japanese and Taiwanese culture and produces new performances by Butoh and theater.
The "New Normal" is changing peoples' minds little by little under the name of safety and security. Full of information, evidence, life hacks to avoid mistakes, etc..., they say that if you do what they say, they will protect you.
Communities had their own spirit medium, possession and superstition. They had no rational way, invisible, chaotic and have kept people connected despite being in the border, not in the center of the community.
People lost them. Now, what are we surrounded by, or what are we losing? What will be certain in the future?
We create Butoh performances that capture the drifting souls with our bodies, sensing the space between people that can only be created in that place and at that time.
Our Japan-Taiwan project is sure to stimulate people's creativity by showing the possibilities and pleasures of new forms of stage expression in whatever situation. We would appreciate your support!

________________
There is a story about spirits of old tools in Japan. We call these spirits "Tsukumo-gami."
Japanese people believed old tools get spirits, so we should not throw away easily. When we decide to throw these tools away, we say "Thank you very much" in our mind to respect the spirits. Parents teach kids "If you don't treat tools well, they turn into bad monsters."
This idea of "Old tools turning into monsters" must have been based on the old people's "attachment to tools" and "sense of guilt for discarding tools", in other words, their "heart to cherish tools".
This idea links to recycling, ecology, sustainability and environment.
"Tsukumo-gami" do a parade at night. The performance is based on this old Japanese idea, and let people imagine the deep relationship between human and tools.

A Perfect Day
* We are planning to perform full ver. at Taipei in April, 2022
September 11
Start: 14:30(Duration: 20 minutes)
[After birth, do we forget everything...? Enjoy anyway, enjoy until the time comes!]
Movements that come from unconsciousness are the key to know what we experienced before we were born and how we survive in a tough situation. Imagination connects beyond time and space, then tells us something we forgot but important.
Emiko has researched the idea of the soul in different countries. The image of the soul in the future would be changed. Funeral is one of the motifs of this performance, but it's not a pessimistic image.
Based on the story of the lesbian couple in *潮來之音, Emiko imagines them in Butoh world.

from Mong Tong
ABOUT Mong Tong:
Brothers Hom Yu and Jiun Chi also play in Prairie WWWW (落差草原 WWWW) and Dope Purple. They both returned to Taipei in 2017 after finishing their studies and before long began to explore their mutual obsession for Taiwanese occult-inspired art and vintage superstitious imagery, channelling it through music. Mong Tong means many things in Chinese, but the translation they choose to fit their music is “the east-side of dreams”.
Growing up in Taiwan in the 90’s, the brothers listen to 電子琴音樂 which they describe as “relaxing Chinese synth pop” along with video game soundtracks, psychedelic music, doom metal and sound collage/library music. On “Mystery 秘神'' these inspirations combine with the dark humour of Taiwanese folklore and a love of conspiracy theories to form what they describe as “a psychedelic journey to the east.”

Pan-Pan Gou is an upcoming composer, sound designer, and classical singer. Her composition styles ranges from classical, soundtrack, to soft pop. Completing her degrees in both Music and Drama at the University of California Irvine, Pan-Pan will continue her study of Sound Design at Carnegie Mellon University.
“Calm, After”: When we are roaming in the underworld, could we still hear what happened before we die? Do those memories bring us joy, warmth, or sadness?
“The Dance of Hell”: The meter switches between 11/8 and 12/8, creating a sense of instability. This is a celebration of our deepest fear and ecstasy.

<about "我想欲試看覓" text by Nakamura Ke Isaac>
