OteraOdoriOcha Session 5
-KOREKU-TE CHA-NOME-
17(Sat)~18(Sun), February, 2024
What is a Japanese Tea Ceremony? Don't think seriously, just enjoy! We offer a new proposal by the trinity of expression group: buddhism (otera), Butoh (odori), and Japanese tea ceremony (ocha).
The Buddhist worldview is interwoven with the Butoh dance, and the audience starts imagining the world of impermanence. How do we get peace in our mind in this modern society?
While immersed in the otherworldly world unfolding before your eyes, the taste of Matcha served in an artistic teabowl is exceptional. We hope you will enjoy this surprising experience that will make you see the "usual" in a different light when you return to your daily life. Don't miss it!

OteraOdoriOcha Session 1 (2019)
What is Otera-Odori-Ocha?
We are a performing arts group consisting of Butoh dancers, a Japanese tea ceremony master, and monks that were established in 2016. In 2019, the group will launch a full-scale "Otera Odori Ocha" session at Vanryu-ji Temple in Meguro. We will offer the most advanced and enjoyable tea ceremony party by overturning stereotypes while carrying the traditional Japanese culture.
What is Butoh?
Butoh was born in Japan in the 1960s. As the reaction against the imported modern dance, Butoh dancers focused on their body and mind based on Japanese rural culture. This attitude established a unique body philosophy and Butoh keeps attracting artists all over the world.
